Need help. VVEngine continues to stop syncing (mirror) data from one Win2008R2 SP1 shared location to another Win2008R2 SP1 shared location.
I've only been using viceversa & vvengine since Oct. 2013.

Using ViceVersa Pro Build 2513 64-bit & VVengine build 2104 on Windows 2008R2 SP1 server (source) to target Windows 2008R2 SP1.

I'm using VVengine as a service. VVengine account has admin & shared access on source and target.

Both servers (source and target) mirror is data only.

Since I started using ViceVersa and VVengine in Nov. 2013, I have noticed that the vvengine will stop syncing (mirror) the data from the source to target. I upgraded to latest version of both hoping that the issue was resolved in the latest update but it appears to be getting worst.

I was gone a week and came back to discover that the sync (mirror) had not run the complete time I was gone.

I've no errors. I've checked both vice versa and windows logs. The only error I'm seeing is the error stating that vice versa has not run in x number of days.
In the vvengine log, all I see is the next time the sync will run but there no additional errors, messages or anything as to why it stopped.

Need help as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Hi, check these files:

- VVEngine.log (please search the VVEngine help file for how to find location of this file).

- ViceVersa profile logs that can be setup in the ViceVersa profile settings -> execution.

Please send them to support @ tgrmn.com for analysis.

Also please include details on the VVEngine scheduling options you are using.

thanks

I've sent a second email to 'support@tgrmn.com' with the profiles and vvengine.log attached. The first email was sent on 12/16/2013 at 1:20PM CST but do not contain any logs.

Since there was no trouble ticket attached to this forum, please look for the email with the subject: "Support Analysis VVengine Logs - Forum subject VVEngine stops Sync".

The email was sent at 12/17/2013 9:17AM CST.

Something is causing the vvengine to stop copying or mirroring the files from the source to the target. Please note that the vvengine continues to run with no errors and only reports the next date and time of the next schedule as though there were no changes on the source.

To know that vvengine is not copying versus nothing to copy, one can see the total file changes reported in the vvengine web pages and by running file comparison. And if you run a manual update, vvengine will copy the files over to the target with no errors.

In addition, please let me know if there is something I can to do in order to increase the logging reports as I'm not seeing any errors in the vvengine logs nor in the windows system logs.

Did this get resolved? I have a similar issue. Running VVEngine v2.1 build 2102. It appears that File monitoring just stops working. I use the option "Monitor Source and Run when file changes are detected" - only monitoring level available to me is "Full Recomparison". This works for a while then it just stops. If I rebuild the profile it will work again for a while and then stops again. If I manually run the profile it will detect changes and copy the changes to the target, so I have now included a time schedule to run every hour in addition but this is not often enough for my client and more often really taxes the server. Any ideas??

UTFin,

No I have not hear anything from TGRMN support since I sent them the files they requested. I've resend the files twice. I have not even received an acknowledgment that they got my email with the files.

I'm new to the software and company so I'm unsure what their support policies.

As for your issue, it sounds the same as to what I'm having. That including the full re-comparison.

Were you able to find any error logs reporting why it just stops?

Greska,

Yes I did find the VVEngine.log. It is located in C:\Users\"your user"\AppData\Roaming\VVEngine\VVEngine.log. You can also get to it from the VVEngine profile window, at the bottom under your profiles - click "show VVEngine settings", then click and open the link next to "VVEngine Log File".

Your profile log is wherever you custom set it in - profile settings/execution/log file:.

Hi, are you monitoring files over the network? Which version of Windows do you have on the source and the target? thanks

To TGRMN Software;
Yes I'm monitoring over the network using the VVengine web page.

The Version of Windows for both source and target is
Windows 2008R2 SP1.

This answer to the OS for both source and target is seen in my first response.

Please review the first message I sent as I stated " ...on Windows 2008R2 SP1 server (source) to target Windows 2008R2 SP1."

In addition, I emailed TGRMN Support this information on Dec. 16, 2013 and Dec. 17, 2013 along with the configuration.

UTFin,
Sorry I was not alittle clearer with the log message.
I meant I've tried to find anything as to why why vvengine stops syncing.

I've reviewed ever log I could find including the VVengine.log and the Windows event logs but have been unable to find any errors as to why vvengine stops syncing.

An error might help determine the cause as to why it stops after a few days to a week but I've seen no errors or even a message as to why it stops syncing.

Greska,

TGRMN support suggested that I update ViseVersa and VVEngine to the latest builds - ViceVersa 2513 and VVEngine 2104 which would correct a bug in the build I was running. It appears you've already done that. In addition to that, I also deleted and recreated my VVEngine scheduling profile and changed VVEngine to run as a service - which you also have already done. My profiles seem to be working now without issue but it's only been 4 days.

I suggest deleting and recreating your VVEngine scheduling profile, making sure to check the box "Monitor Source and Run When File Changes Are Detected" and then in addition to this, use Time Scheduling to set it to check for changes on an interval, i.e. run every 1 hour. This way your ViceVersa profile will run every hour and pick up the changes even if the auto change detection in VVEngine stops working.

Hope this helps...

Hello, if this issue happens again please report it here.

The issue seems to be with monitoring files over a network location which stops detecting changes (e.g. new changes are not detected) while the profile is still enabled (it is not disabled) and change detection for local files is still OK.

thanks!
