|
|
Hi,
I have a number of backup drives going back a number of years.
Because the large accumulation of files is unwieldy, and also difficult to remember where things actually are, I wish to produce a new backup on a new drive which copies the 'last' folder names and 'last' file names.
My intention is then to wipe all previous backups and reuse the backup drives.
I did search for help but was getting confused and would appreciate some help
Questions
------------
1.
Am I right in thinking that I can only compare two drives at a time? i.e. oLd backup files to new backup drive? Obviously then I just go through one drive at a time.
2.
What settings do use in order to ensure that I copy the 'last' files and folder names across, and how/should I retain the last date and timne these file were created?
3.
Any recommendations for a procedure?
I am only going to do this once and I dont want to make a mistake, either losing information or copying any corrupted stuff across
4.
Any general advice, comments or suggestions please?
Thanks
Anne |

Hi, how much data is there ? I would personally still make a copy of all the old files just in case, before cleaning up. Maybe to a few DVDs? _________________ --
