|
|
Alright, noob here and already with problems.
The profile is set as intended, some folders/files included, some excluded. When it runs with a clean/formatted target drive, everything is backed-up just fine. When it runs a second time, all unchanged files in target are deleted and only the new/modified files are copied from source to target.
The intended backup is plain vanilla: C:\ is the source, G:\ is the target. New folders/files should be pushed from C:\ to G:\, modified folders/files should be overwritten (no need for extra copies), deleted folders/files in C:\ should also be deleted in G:\, and all unchanged folders/files just stay as the last backup. Pretty much what Backup (Mirror Source to Target) is supposed to do:
"Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
This method backs-up Source to Target by creating a mirror/replica of the Source in Target.
* All new files/folders added to Source (single files) are copied to Target
* All deleted files/folders in Source are deleted from Target
* All updated files in Source (newer) are copied to Target"
There's the NB, "If you wish to preserve the old version of files in Target instead of just deleting/overwriting them, you should enable the Archiving Feature in the profile settings.", but that's not helping either.
Certainly operator's error. Please help!
Thanks,
Marcus. |

Hi, please copy and paste here the content of the profile file (.fsf). To do that, open the profile (.fsf) with NotePad and then copy and paste into the forum. thanks _________________ --

Hi, the issue is caused by backing up to the same target, e.g.
Source Folder=C:\Users\H&M\Desktop\ | C:\Users\H&M\Favorites\ | C:\Users\H&M\Documents\ | C:\Users\H&M\Music\ | C:\Users\H&M\Pictures\ | C:\Users\H&M\Videos\
Target Folder=G:\ | G:\ | G:\ | G:\ | G:\ | G:\
Use G:\Desktop\, G:\Favorites, G:\Documents etc instead

Thank you very much!
Isn't there a way to automatically create the same folders and subfolders structure as in the source? |

Yes, you could use the folder parm sourcewithoutdrive i.e.
G:\<sourcewithoutdrive>\ for every target.
This will append the source folder (without drive) to G:\
But this is more for automated scripts probably, as in your case you would only need to create the targets once. _________________ --
