File Synchronization with VV Pro 2.5 on 2 PC's (A & B)

While I understand what is happening, I'm lost as to how to
get "ohhappyday.txt" back into my system for keeps!
It's got to be simple; Yes?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
ASource PC <VPN> BTarget PC <LcL HDD> BSource PC

Hi, step 7 seems incorrect: ohhappyday.txt.enc should be copied to ASource PC in that step. Which build of ViceVersa PRO 2.5 are you using?
thanks

Hello,

Per your request:
PC (A) IS WINDOWS XP 32bit WITH VV 2.5 BUILD 2501
PC (B) IS WINDOWS 7 64bit WITH VV 2.5 BUILD 2511 64-bit

Looks like I need to pay more attention to Build #'s and Up Grades. I will install Build 2512 on both PC's & report back with findings.

Of course I'm still open to any other questions, suggestions and advice in the mean time.

Thank You!
RAy

Hi Ray, please let us know if installing the latest version on both sides fixes the issue, thanks!

Happy days are here again!!! Very Happy No.... Updating both PC's builds to current waz not the fix, but doing so helped me find my error.

The Problem: I had unknowingly re-configured ASource PC's Profile Setting Execution Method (That's Right! Its PSEM Smile) from 'Synchronization' to 'Backup :(Mirror Source to Target) Shocked

My investigation into how that happened appears to have exposed a possible Product Documentation Error (Uh huh! A PDE Wink)

Here's what I read that sent my ohhappyday astray...
"Multiple Source/Target View: By using multiple source/target pairs in the same profile you can compare, synchronize and backup several folders at once."

My brain Shocked took that to mean each Source/Target Pair (STP) in a Profile group could have its on variant of the Profile Settings so that one could be doing a thing (Backup (Mirror Source to Target)) on one STP and an-other thing (Synchronization) on an other STP.

Thinking that was the case, I added the 'ohhappyday STP' to a preexisting other STP' Profile after switching it into Multiple Sources/Targets (MST) mode. Next I opened what I thought was 'ohhappyday's STPs "very own" set of Profile Settings and set it from, what I thought was, its Default Setting (You know.... The setting configured when that particular Profile was created. Rolling Eyes ) of 'Backup (Mirror Source to Target)' to the one I needed of 'Synchronization'.

To be on the safe side (yeah, right! Embarassed ) I checked up on the original STPs setting only to find that I'd somehow switched its PSEM away from what it had been before I added the additional STP. So I switched it back to 'Backup (Mirror Source to Target.)

Ok! Now I do understand. Cool The Profile Settings are applied against all pairs that are included in that group. This allows for consolidating a 'same set of actions' against a number of different STPs.

If I were going to rewrite that 'Help' info, it would read, "Multiple Source/Target View. By using multiple source/target pairs in the same profile you can perform the 'exact same' compare, synchronize and backup parameters to several different folder Source/Target pairs in one operation." Am I hired? Razz

Thanks for your interest and concern,
RAy's brain Shocked

PS There's still a wee mystery in all this, but I believe the 'user' had something to do with that so, we don't need to go there... Arrow
