|
|
We are experiencing an issue that arose just this month with our VV install. At a remote site we have a directory that is replicated to our headquarters. We converted the remote site server to a virtual machine. Since then it seems the bandwidth throttling is not functioning.
We have an MPLS circuit between these sites with 3 Mbps connection, so I throttled the VV settings to 400Kbps. Since then it appears to, at times, be running upwards of the full 3Mbps, thus indicating that the 400 Kbps throttle is not functioning.
I know that the VV is causing it because when I turn the syncing off the used bandwidth drops to normal rates. BTW, it is only the download or copying from remote site (source) to the HQ (target) that increases, not the upload. |

Maybe it's caching on the VM that confuses ViceVersa, try the option "Flush buffer every write" in profile settings -> performance. Please let me know how it goes, curious to find out what is the issue. thanks! _________________ --

Well it appears to have helped a little bit. Our bandwidth usage is now reading at about 2 Mbps usage. Buffer size is set to 32768. Any other thoughts on the issue? |

I modified both settings. The buffer size I changed to 16384. It seems our bandwidth dropped from 2.1 Mbps to 1.7 or so. Should I try even lower? Then it would seem to have a negative impact on performance possibly.
Also it still seems so high compared to what it was running at before, which was actually based on the Bandwidth Throttling setting at 400 Kbps. |

Try also setting the process priority to IDLE.
When Idle, Low or Below Normal values are used, all folder scanning and file copying operations performed by ViceVersa will be of lower priority when compared to other I/O operations of other applications running at the same time on the same computer. When using these values, ViceVersa will not impact on the overall responsiveness of the computer and the copy/scanning will go ahead silently in the background. When running on Windows 8, 7, Vista, 2012, 2008 or newer, ViceVersa will also use the new I/O prioritization capabilities to improve system responsiveness without significantly decreasing overall throughput. _________________ --
