Error: The specified network name is no longer available

Hi there,

I want to backup up data form a NAS over the Internet to a PC.
It worked fine until last week. The Synchronisation won't finish anymore.
It alway aborts execution wit error messages like
"The specified network name is no longer available" or
"An unexpected network error occurred."

Here are my profile settings:

- Target: "\\?\K:\Case GD\Daten\" (Archived)

- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
- Ignore any second difference
Execution
- Method: Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
- No overwrite / read-only / error confirmations
- Log File: "C:\ProgramData\ViceVersa PRO\log1.log" (max 10000 KB)
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files
- Archive deleted/replaced target files to: "K:\Case GD\Archiv\"
- Smart archive
- Archive max. 2 copies per file
- Remove archive copies older than 31 day(s)
- Append Source/Target path to archive folder(s)
- Speed: 70 Buffer Size: 32768
- Network friendly folder scanning
- Copy files even if timestamp changes after initial comparison
- Try to copy files that are in use by other applications
- Run custom scripts before comparison (script: C:\Skripts\VPN Senden\senden_start.bat)
- Run custom scripts after execution (script: C:\Skripts\VPN Senden\senden_stop.bat)
- Send notification e-mail after execution to info@msg.de from sync@datag.de. Use SMTP server smtp.msg.de on port 25 (Send e-mail on execution success or error)

The batch script is used to map the network drive O:\
I also tried it with a UNC path, but i got the same errors.

i hope someone can help me out.

Hi,

the error occurs when the files of the source
folder (O:\) are checked, but always at a different
point/folder.

Please try the option "Network Friendly Folder Scanning" in ViceVersa profile settings -> performance. Please revert if that does option not solve the issue, we might have another solution, thank you

Hi,

I tried the option "Network Friendly Folder Scanning" in connection with
reducing the speed to 70% but i still get those errors.

I tried to setup a tracking database but things got even worse.
During source folder scan the process stops with the same error
and no files are synchronized.

Now I'm synching the source by limiting the file size and encreasing
it stepwise. In this way the process finishes the operation and no
error occurs.

Probably the amount of data is a problem? Sometimes i have to copy
300 to 600 MB to the target.

BTW there are 2 new options in ViceVersa PRO 2.5 build 2516 (or newer): set how many times to retry on network error during folder scanning and how long to pause for before retrying.
