I'm trying the trial and want to syncronize My Documents between the two computers.

WinXP is c:\documents and settings\username\my documents
Win7 is c:\users\documents

and the problem is the My Pictures folder (WinXP) is disappearing after I run the sync operation. I really want this to work but not sure what the issues is.

I added an additional line item for the sync, so the pictures are transfered (over) once, and then again (back).

Hi, here is how I setup a file sync between my Win 7 and a server:

- "c:\Users\Matt\Documents\" <to> "\\SERVER2008\Documents Backup$\Documents\" (Include Subfolders)
- "c:\Users\Matt\Pictures\" <to> "\\SERVER2008\Documents Backup$\Pictures\" (Include Subfolders)
- "c:\Users\Matt\Music\" <to> "\\SERVER2008\Documents Backup$\Music\" (Include Subfolders)

What do you mean by "the problem is the My Pictures folder (WinXP) is disappearing after I run the sync operation."

thanks

I need to sync both the documents folders. The WinXP documents folder (target) contains the My Pictures folder. The Win7 Pictures folder exists under the User folder (one level up), not the documents folder. The Win7 documents folder (source) has a system link (shortcut) called My Pictures which although inaccessable by a user, points to the actual Pictures folder one level up (in the User folder).

During the sync, the My Pictures are removed from the WinXP (target). I think this is because they are not being seen on Win7 (source). If I copy them back (from a local backup location), this triggers wierd behavior during the next sync. The pictures are copied from target to source, then again from source to target. I'm very confused, there must be an easier way.

Oh, and I removed the addition My pictures job. Only the documents folder job exists, and it 'should' work, but the behavior is as I described above.

The fact that "my pictures" are a subfolder of "my documents" in XP but not on 7 is causing the issue. To solve, you'll need to create two profiles, 1 for documents sync (and exclude the my pictures subfolder from this profile) and a separate one for the pictures. thanks
