|

I tried everything
1) Using VVengine NOT as a service - trying with the USER credentials in settings/folders/network - of course an administrator user (that perfectly sees the network)
2) Using VVengine as a SERVICE - then adding as account "NT AUTHORITY\Network Service" (that is the network service user) - with blank pwd
3) Any combination of settings in settings/folders/network inside the ViceVersa profile
Look at the screenshots and log and VV project I sent via e-mail
No way the error is always the same
Folder not accessible \\NAS\PixelCartoon\Prj
remember, always on Windows Server 2012
what can be done?

I tried the UNC path option with other computers and I noticed that when the computer is joined to the domain, then VVengine works, otherwise the conncetion is refused, even if I use the Network Admin and even if all the other apps (ViceVers first) work perfectly with or without the joining in the domain.
Is there a way to make VVengine work even without the NAS being joined to the domain? That's because I probably cannot change the NAS parmas to join it to the domain. (It is just a NAS with a mapped drive N |

If you run ViceVersa as administrator (right click on ViceVersa and select "run as administrator") can ViceVersa access the UNC path? VVEngine is running elevated, that could be the issue. thanks _________________ --

Yes, I tried to run ViceVersa with right click on "run as administrator" and it perfectly works (I just tried a compare, but it finds all UNC paths) |

It must be an issue with the VVEngine scheduling settings. Which scheduling options are you using for this profile? _________________ --

I have a very similar issue. VV Server edition (Build 2011) running on Windows Server 2003 along with VV Engine Premium (v2.1). The Win 2003 VV Profile specifies a UNC path to an XP Pro computer on my LAN.
In the network setting dialog for the profile, I specify the UNC path to the share (\\IAGO\Mast\), with Administrator as user and associated password. "Disconnect when done" is checked.
VV runs the profile just fine. VV Engine (running as a service) does not - whether I wait for the schedule to start or if I select Run Profile in the Engine's UI, the profile's log contains:
[ERROR] "\\IAGO\Mast" is not accessible using the credentials entered in the profile settings. A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated.
Any thoughts? |

I may have found a work-around. If you look at the properties for the VV Engine Service, the default (on the Log On tab) is for it to run under the Local System account. But you can specify a different account. I set the service to run as Administrator and VV Engine runs the profile fine - just as VV pro directly does.
Still a mystery, though, why VV Engine under the Local System account can't establish a session on the other LAN-connected computer. |

After many trial and errors I finally resolved with:
Service MUST use the network logon, that is I had to enter as login name NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE
then in the VV profile setting I added in the network connection credentials the username and pwd of the local admin user. Seems to work now... |

Ok, now I got found problem:
when I check the box "Check if Source and Target are accessible on the Server using PING command only"
nothing works anymore, that is, the profile always says "folder not accessible"
If I unckech it, everything works
why?
So I have to ask "Is the ping command useful"? |

Hi ossvale, great that you found the solution! The ping option in the scheduling settings is only useful in some specific scenarios. thanks _________________ --
