Hi; new user for 5 days on trial version -- love it -- I will be getting a license soon!
Preliminary use is a great success! Everything is in sync for the first time!
I hate to say this, but your web site could use a major overhaul and be made a whole lot more user friendly and have a whole lot more info on it for us all. Plowing thru blogs for info that should be on your pages is [I won’t say it].
Background -- I did a test run on encrypting data. I have encrypted files from my Desktop to a folder with more encrypted files on a sub-directory below it to my NetBook. Worked fine, files are encrypted. I have no experience with using encryption however; sorry.
Question -- How do I use them? Nothing can access them, and when I click on a file, WinLocker opens??? Your blogs say I have to use VV to decrypt them?? How do I use them?
Question -- I read elsewhere about folder level encryption. Is it safe? Can VV do it? [assumption is no, there are no options for it in the tools]. This level would allow my files to be used once I get past the directory folder. I really would like to use encryption, but know not how.
Question -- I read about hidden encrypted folders and files. I will assume you cannot do this either, but having a hidden encrypted folder with separate password would be great!
I really am a novice at all this, and it really should all be on your web page. |

Hi, thank you for evaluating ViceVersa!

Encrypted files have extension .enc, probably that extension is associated with WinLocker on you computer. Enc files are encrypted by ViceVersa and can only be opened by ViceVersa. You can copy them to a decrypted file using ViceVersa.

ViceVersa only does file-by-file encryption. Maybe you can enable the Windows encryption for an entire folder?

ViceVersa does not do that, but if you use a third party software for that ViceVersa should still be able to copy files to the encrypted folder.
