VV cannot shadow copy if the files in use are on a NAS drive on the LAN.
I keep all files on the NAS and work direct from it and save the backup to a USB drive connected to the NAS. i.e. no files are on the computer.
I use mirror backup not two way sync.
I seem to observe that every time I save a file and leave it open for continued work, VV scans all folders and files (and there are many) in order to find the one that changed. Meanwhile I may save again while the first search is still in progress.
My concern is the time taken and also whether the second (and more) changes might be missed, (especially if I wanted each change in a separate backup version).
Is there no way for VV to know where the change was, after all it did detect that something changed, why not which?
Is there another way or am I wrong?
Thanks. |

Yes I had read that but it requires further software, VV Engine.
So therefore I assume I am correct with regard to using only VV, of any version.
Thank you. |

Hi, yes, you are correct, real-time / no rescanning functionality requires the VVEngine add-on, it's not possible using only ViceVersa, thanks _________________ --

I have downloaded trial vvengine for windows 7, (i assume this is client version) it only offers full rescan for real time sync not file level . Am I stupid?
Thanks |

Hi, did you have the latest VVEngine build 2103? Check the VVEngine main page at the top. Are you running VVEngine on Win 7 or a Windows Server? The real-time option should be in "edit schedule" -> Monitoring Level. Let me know, thanks _________________ --

Windows 7 64b, the version of VVEngine is direct from your website and says build 2102 and when installed says the same.
The browser page also seems ambiguous in that it requires VV 2.5 b2505 and above that says b2509.
I added a profile and on returning to the Edit Schedule page I ticked File monitoring Source and the only selection is Full Recomparison.
I was looking for file level so that a single file change would instantly sync that file to target.
My aim was to get away from the constant everlasting scanning when there are large numbers of files; one changes and VV doesn't seem to know which one or where it is until it has checked every one. |

Sorry but I have come to the conclusion that at this stage I am not prepared to pay for two pieces of software to do what everybody else seems to do with one and at the price of VV alone.
It appears on the surface that the VV inbuilt scheduler should be able to handle the auto sync or real time sync without having to buy a workaround.
Thanks |
