|
|
Hi
I have been using Viceversa for some time now.
recently I have found that some files are renamed as
"filename - ViceVersa Copy.jpg" (just an example), that is
filename+" - ViceVersa Copy"+ext
But the original is no more, deleted.
I am doing a regular copy/backup between one NAS drive and one backup
drive, but I cannot find why and how these files are being renamed
Can you help me please?
I don't want this to happen, I want the original name, how can I disable this feature?
I am using Viceversa Pro 2.5 build 2509 and VVengine build 2.003
I already tried to contact you about this problems months ago without any reply.
Regards
Valerio Oss

Can you just tell me WHY this kind on namefile is created?
Is there a way to disable this feature?

Hi Valerio,
Yes, I remember, we did exchange a few e-mail last December on this issue. ViceVersa PRO creates the temp files during sync, so that if something happens during the copy the original file is not modified unless the copy is successful. For some reason , this process is not working properly on one of your disks and the temp file names are left on the disk without errors.
Question: does this happen for source or target? What type of disk does this happen on?
thanks _________________ --

It happens on a sync process on source disk and then I find them on the target as well, and it seems to happen only to some files that are "open", that is probably locked by the software (it happens to sequences of render files, like TGA or JPGs, rendered with 3dsmax or Nuke)
One disk is the "source" and it is a NAS with open-e OS (a linux OS done for NAS systems), the other is a normal internal HD.
Thanks

Are you using the option "Try to copy files that are in use by other applications" in the advanced settings? If positive, please try to switch the option off, maybe it's a conflict between ViceVersa and the other software that has these files opened. _________________ --

No I am not using that option.
I am using "skip files in use" and "Use 'volume shadow copy service' to copy open files" |
