Hello,
I own another sync software but prefer VV for its clear comparison table which I think is the best on the market. On the other hand, it's not cheap (especially with the only really good automation module being on TOP of the price, instead of it being included), and there is no folder renaming functionality here, so that dozens of thousands of files in renamed folders are deleted and written anew, instead of just renaming their folders within the target drive, too.
So I use the paid other software, and VV free, whenever there is not much renaming to be done. I would have bought VV if a renaming functionality was built in, and even if that will be implemented in the future, I'll buy VV, in spite of my other program.
But VV free (which is an old and crippled version 1.05) again and again refuses to do a comparison between e.g.
d: and
t:\d
which means, that d: there is automatically replaced by the program by the very first folder within d:, which is, in my case, d:\1.
If I change the two, comparing
t:\d and
d:
the d: is again replaced by d:\firstfolderthere.
This does not occur from first try after install on, but only after some such compares, but whenever it occurs, there is no way to have it corrected but by de-install VV free, and re-installing it from scratch.
I understand that for a free version, you don't want to give current functionality of your paid program, but I think that even a crippled version should be bug-free.
Hence my question, is it a known issue that has not yet been treated, and that will not be treated within the free version, or is this new info into which you'll have a look? (I installed it several times, and every time it finishes by getting this behavior - I run XP3.)
And what about the paid version: perhaps it's got the same bug, then? |
