|
|
Hi,
I have been using ViceVersa for many years now and really like it a lot. However, I have never understood the need for the Output window, so I used to move it to the bottom right of my screen in such a way that as little of its top left corner could be visible.
Now, I have recently downloaded the latest version of ViceVersa and... no matter what I do, the Outlook window always pops up in the top left corner of my screen when doing a "Compare & Execute". I have tried to move it and close it, but it makes no difference: the next time I use ViceVersa, that very annoying Output window comes back!
Seriously, could you (finally) have a very simple way of disabling that (useless for me) window?...
Cheers, Alan. |

Hi, you should be able to click on the "X" and close the Output window if you wish to, is that not working? thanks _________________ --

As I said, I tried that (among other things), but it just didn't make any difference. If I close ViceVersa and starts it again, the Output window will come back and its position will be reset. So, it looks to me as if its settings are not saved, are reset, or something. Whatever the case, I (personally) find it very annoying. |

Something is not working properly in this case.... which version of Windows are you running? Under which account type (guest / admin). I can only imagine something like this happening if ViceVersa is unable to write to the Windows Registry. If you know how to use REGEDIT please open it and go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ViceVersa PRO\ViceVersa Pro\Settings
(this on Windows 32-bit)
and check the key value msgwnd
this value should have 6 commas and and in 0 if the output window should not be displayed.

I am using the 64-bit version of Windows 7.

It's an administrator account and UAC has been disabled.

Please note that ViceVersa used to remember where the position of the Output window. It's just since I have upgraded to the latest version that things have stopped working.

Ok, I have just checked msgwnd and its value is 0,0,1280,195,1,0,0. So, from what you are saying, I take it that the Output window shouldn't be shown while... it is...
Anyway, I have backed up that value, deleted the key and started ViceVersa and... miracle! The Output window pops up but then immediately disappears. From there, I closed ViceVersa, and then restarted it and the the Output window simply didn't show up at all. I closed and restarted ViceVersa a few times, and everything was as expected, i.e. the Output window didn't show up anymore.
I must confess that I am a bit puzzled, because in regedit the value of msgwnd is exactly the same as before. Anyway, things now work and that's what matters to me at this stage. |

Argh! I take it back! I was just opening a profile in my previous message, but not actually executing it. As soon as I execute it, the Output window shows up no matter what. So, back to square one! |

Yes, I am running the 64-bit version of ViceVersa. And, yes, the value of msgwnd is still (and always) ending in 0. |
