Hello
I'm trying out VV. Right now I'm testing by using a mirrored back up of My Files to another location on the c: drive. I have performed a back up and all seemed to go well. When I now hit the compare button I see that I have 7102 files and folders in both the source and the target. This is comprised of 6127 files and 975 folders. However when I go to windows explorer, right click and hit the Properties button for the source My Files I get the full 6127 files and 975 folders, but in the target file I only get 6123 files and 975 folders - ie 4 files seem to be missing. I have set up VV so that it is not excluding any type of files.
VV and Windows Explorer seem to be reporting different numbers. Any thoughts on where I'm going wrong? Thank you.
Regards,

Interesting! When you compare Source and Target, does the ViceVersa comparison window show that they are identical? _________________ --

Yes, in the status summary it shows them as the same and these numbers match the results from Windows Explorer for the source. However the Windows Explorer results for the target show four fewer files.

Can you try identifying these 4 files manually, comparing the subfolders and see where Windows Explorer and VV differ in counting? I know it is lots of files, but maybe not too many subfolders to check _________________ --

Realistically at 7,000 plus files and folders I'm going to try and look for another alternative first Especially when the files may be some strange sort of system files I don't even know how to look for. When I get a chance I may look for a file comparison program.
Thanks. Regards,Kingsley Bowles |
