Since Samsung has done away with the mass Storage Device connection for its new Media Connection (MTP) in the Galaxy S3 smartphone, no drive letter is assigned. Does anyone have any ideas on how to transfer files via Vice Versa between my computer and phone without rooting the phone? |

Hello, MTP is not supported by ViceVersa. We are investigating if this is a useful feature to add. What type of files would you sync / copy using ViceVersa? How many files do you have on the phone that must be accessed / copied? thanks! _________________ --

I rely on Vice Versa quite a bit. I sync about 150 documents (including password protected documents), about 400 mp3 file and about 100 photos to my phone. I use the documents quite a bit when I am traveling and away from my computer so it is important that I keep them current.
Since I bought the G3 (about a week ago) I am not updating files on my phone but making notes and then updateing files when I get home. I then use Windows Explorer to copy them to my phone.
I would certainly appreciate your incorporating the capability to sync the G3. I don't know if Samsung will change all its phones but it is possible this will become a much more widspread problem. |

If I may, I would like to support Traveler535 in his request to have Vice Versa implement the Media Transfer Protocol in its software to allow Vice Versa to be used as a file transfer tool between smartphones such as the Galaxy S3 and other computers. Given the computing power that now exists in smartphones and their ability to tap the Internet wherever they are, these devices are rapidly replacing netbooks and in some cases laptops for people on the go. That said, there is still a need to sync back to the home/office computer and Vice Versa has proven its worth in this regard. Would be great if you can make it happen as MTP does not appear to be going away anytime soon. Regards from Canada. |
