I have a two-server ViceVersa config which uses Synchronization and a tracking database.
On the source we run a cleanup script which keeps only the last 30 days of files in the folder. ViceVersa synchronizes with the target.
Here's my issue.....
This profile was disabled in March 2012 (5 months ago). Our cleanup script has deleted thousands of files from the source. So the source contains about 7000 files, and the target still contains 250,000 files, dated as far back as the day we turned off the profile.
So today we turned on the profile, expecting that the source deletions would be sent to the target and we would have both sides with about 7000 files.
This did the opposite of what we expected. The target began feeding the source and would have sent 243,000 files but I stopped the profile so that would not happen.
Any idea why this did not work as I expected?

Hi, the only reason I can think of is the tracking database being re-created or reset... that would cause the behavior you saw... _________________ --

Interesting. All we did was re-enable the profile. Didn't reset the tracking db.
The only thing I can think is that the tracking DB is corrupt. After 10,000 files came back to the source last night, our cleanup script deleted them overnight. Now I've re-enabled that VV profile again and it's again putting a copy of them into the source folder. |

That is what I had to do. Looks like we're ok now. Thank you. |
