so ive been looking through the forums and i cant seem to find an answer...

we just started using the engine as a service. I've learned you are not encouraged to use UNC file names but switch it over to server share name ex. \\Server\Share vs \\?\x:\Share

With UNC names in place it said it couldnt find target.

So i switched it over to server share name and now i imagine im going to encounter 259 charter limit errors.

How do i resolve this?

(i did read something about making a custom batch script so you can still use UNC names) It seems like that would resolve the problem.

I know how to make batch files or vbs scripts, but what needs to be done? just remove the share and remap it to the same letter? what does the batch script need to do?

or....is there another way to resolve the above issue?

thanks in advance?

For long paths on server + share name use:
\\?\UNC\Server\Share instead of \\Server\Share

thanks
