We are currently testing ViceVersa pro evaluation on a Windows 2003 server amongst 8 mapped network drives. We've setup the profile and followed the instructions as possible, but we feel based on what we are reading with the description listed on the software with real time replication and what we are achieving with the results from our trial run tests do not seem to match.

Is it possible that we may have something misconfigured?

Our tests involve 34 folders (317 files / 91.2mb) from one source to 8 target networked drives.

A comparison runs and it takes 20 minutes.
A deletion takes 33 minutes.
A copy takes 38 minutes.

Is this as fast as it will go? We have even changed priority to real time from default and did not notice any performance improvements. If there is anything we can check to make sure our configuration is correct, please advise.

Thanks in advance.

We ended up buying multiple licenses and separating each based on whether they are in the DMZ are not. This has worked to our advantage for the most part.

However, I'd like to see if there is anything in addition we can do to improve the run times on two separate servers running VV / VVEngine from the same external source. I am not sure what the connection speed is, if there is a quick way of determining this, please let me know and I will provide the details.

Here is our setup:

Server 1 - CAL (Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition 32bit)
Server 2 - LOU (Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition 32bit)

(CAL) - VVEngine and ViceVersa Server Edition
Profile 1 - Drive A (External Mapped Drive) to Drive B (Local)
Profile 2 - Drive B (Local) to Drive C (Local)
Total Files - Source: 13,931 (1.98GB) - Target: 13,931 (1.98GB)
Time: 39 min 51 sec

(LOU) - VVEngine and ViceVersa Server Edition
Profile 1 - Drive A (External Mapped Drive) to Drive E (Local)
Profile 2 - Drive E (Local) to Drive F (Local)
Total Files - Source: 13,931 (1.98GB) - Target: 13,931 (1.98GB)
Time: 29 min 11 sec

Settings we are using with both servers are the following:

Comparison Method: Size and Timestamp
Method: Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
Include Subfolders: Yes
Network: connect using default user's credentials
Priority Process: Realtime
Advanced Settings - Replace newer target files with older source files (backup method): Checked.
Email Notification on Error - Enabled.

Please let me know if there is any additional info you may need to diagnose any issues if present in efforts to improve run times.

Most of the time appears to be the comparison between source and target.

Hi, you could use the VVEngine real-time backup functionality, see bottom of page for detailed instructions.
