How can I prevent partial synchronisations?

I have a backup configured to use CRC comparison. I had thought it was running fine as it was being reported as successful (in VVEngine and by email). However, looking at the logs reveals many instances of "File will be excluded from comparison/execution" errors. In some cases as little as 5% of the files in the backup are actually being copied.

The nature of this backup set is such that I need either everything to be synchronised or for the backup to be reported as unsuccessful. How can I accomplish this?

Also, there does not appear to be any way to configure retries within a synchronisation. Sure, I can configure the scheduler to retry the job later but that is a pretty heavy-handed way of handling intermittent network problems.

Hello,

"File will be excluded from comparison/execution" is reported if the file can't be accessed during comparison for CRC calculation. Maybe the best option is to enable VSS if possible: http://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item33.htm

thanks

I am performing backups from a machine connected to the network via VPN. It is my understanding that VSS is not applicable in this situation.

No, you are right, the problem is that ViceVersa needs to open and read the file for CRC calculation and if the file(s) is in use and exclusively locked, ViceVersa won't be able to calculate the CRC. thanks
