Hi,

I'm new to this forum, but have been using VV for a couple of years to keep a set of "private" data syncronized between my work pc and my private netbook. Currently the data set is 7 Gb.

Recently my work pc crashed, and I transferred the data from the old disk to the new pc. The new pc was named as the old, and the same shares were created, specifically to enable VV to work with no changes.

This worked, except for one thing: ALL files on the new pc got a time stamp of 1 second (!) newer compared to the identical files on the netbook.

So now VV wants to copy all 7 Gb of data to syncronize the data - completely unnecessarily ! Naturally, I would very much like to avoid this happening.

Is there a way to re-syncronize the datasets without having to unnecessarily copy all 7 Gb of data ? Isn't there a "negligible time difference" setting somewhere in VV, preventing it from copying files with say 5 seconds of difference between time stamps ?

TIA

Correction, only circa every second file has the problem.

It seems that all file with an odd number of seconds in the modification time has been rounded 1 second up. E.g. 12:10:17 => 12:10:18 etc.

But it's still 3½ Gb that errs in the syncronization.

That's the difference between FAT32 file system and NTFS. FAT32 has 2 second resolution for last write times. In other words, what you're seeing is a limitation of the FAT32 file system: it can't store last modified times accurately to the second. You can workaround this is issue in ViceVersa by enabling the option "Ignore up to 2 seconds difference between files" in profile settings -> comparison.
