|
|
I Have been using ViceVersa Pro for a couple of Years now. My typical use is Syncing files from Computer A to Computer B with ViseVersa from Computer C with a set of profiles that I set up. How does ViceVersa Transfer the files when using a third (C) computer to do the Sync job?
Does it transfer the files from Computer A to Computer C then back to Computer B? or does it transfer the files directly from Computer A to Computer B?
Just wanted to know for performance reasons. For me it is easier to use the the third computer to do all the work than having the profiles on both computers and using either Computer A ro B to do the job. It seems like the performance is lower when using a third computer to do the job? |

Hi, it would transfer from Computer A to Computer C and then to Computer B. That could have a performance hit, but caching would play a role; the best way to find that out definitely is to perform a small test. _________________ --

Thanks.
What kind of test? Just a performance test? Or some way of tracing the path?
I think from my experience that it does go through Computer C. It seems like My transfer speed is usually slower through a third computer, thats why I am asking. I am not sure of the details on how the network works. I would guess that the same thing is true when using Windows Explorer as well?
I really like ViseVersa and am using it for my home network so I use the third computer setup, because my Computer A is a Windows Home Server 2011 and my Computer B is a Home Solaris11 Server and my Computer C is Windows 7 Pro. So unless I buy a Server license I need to sync my two servers this way. |

Hi, yes, I meant to try copying the same set of files from a third computer or with ViceVersa installed on one of the two computers. thanks _________________ --
