I am trying to backup my data to a USB Maxtor drive attached to a Pogoplug NAS.
Whenever I try and update the data I get the following error:
Copying "Outlook.pst" (344.89MB) ... (Overwriting) ... [File Timestamp Error. Section 5. One of the timestamps of 'P:\Large Drive\wc-chrisUsers\chris\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst' is set to before January 1, 1970. Please check file timestamps (you can use the Windows Explorer's file properties).] Error.
When I look at the file in Explorer the timestamp that is missing is Date File Accessed. Is there a way to suppress this error check and force a copy? |

Yes, P: is the drive letter for the Pogoplug. I have it set so it shows all the connected drives as folders under P.
There is an existing file from the last backup. Though all the files on the backup create the same error which seems to be from the missing value in the 'Date Accessed' field being empty. |

Hi, yes I think VV stops now if any of the file timestamps are incorrect or not populated. Is 'Date Accessed' the only date that is missing? thanks _________________ --

Yes it is only the 'file accessed date' which is missing. The drive is a western digital my elements drive.
The 'date created' and 'date modified' are correct. |

Hi, unfortunately it seems that ViceVersa requires an access date on the target file to work properly, in this case it looks like the Pogoplug does not support access dates for files.... _________________ --

I would hope that could be made an option. The 'file accessed date' in windows is beyond useless. It does not contain any useful information especially for backup purposes. 'file modified date' contains meaningful information and can be used to prevent copying of unchanged files. Having a file read but not changed does not mean anything for backup purposes. |

Hi, I agree the 'file accessed date' in windows is quite useless... but basically almost all of the devices do return a value (usually the same as the modified date) even if their file system do not support it, because there are many applications (including ViceVersa) that expect a value when querying that field. FAT32, NTFS, file systems etc they all return a 'file accessed' value. It would be good to make an option, or even to not expect a value by default, but we are having hard time finding a device that does not support it, for testing. _________________ --

Well... How about a pogoplug with a cheap usb drive. It doesn't provide a avlue for that date field. |
