This is my second attempt to use ViceVersa Pro. Couple years ago I tried with no luck. I currently use three different programs to accomplish what I need, Opus, Beyond Compare and Ultra Compare. I'm somewhat determined to make it work this time, with the use of this forum.
Example : I'm working with two drives F:\ & T:\.
F Drive was files that I'm trying to eliminate. The files on the F Drive have many duplications on the T Drive. And they also both share similar folders and in many cases the files within them need to be synced but only after review.
The file structure is a hodgepodge of directories that were saved over the years. One thing though folders have that is somewhat helpful is common words. If the program can do a search and compare and show me these filtered folders so I can review and determine what to do. The following are the common folder words on both the F Drive and the T Drive. The folder words are not without additional words. Example: the word file might have other words associated with it such as the file folder or masterfile or even graphic file. The other words also have the same considerations.
Words that Appear in the Folder Name: File, Bob, Tips, Sales, BayView, Bay View, Act
All of these folders that most likely can be found on both drives have files in them that I need to make a decision on whether or not to just delete them off of the F Drive or move them to the T Drive within the proper directory.
I might mention I did try using this program but didn't even come close to a reasonable solution for my efforts.
I should also mention that the use of dates to find duplicates are of no use since most files are quite old. The name and size of the file are of most value.

Hi, ViceVersa needs to have the same folder structure on both side to sync the files. I think the best option is to keep the structure on the newer side and remove the structure from the older side (back it up / archive a copy of it just in case) and then perform an initial mirror so that the two sides are identical. After that you can start the synchronization. _________________ --

If I had all the folders on the same drive would I be able to find folders based on a select term. Or better said just the part of a folder name. If it will go this I would then like the capability to see what's within those folders and decide what action to take.
