I have downloaded VV Pro and am about 10 days into my eval period. I have successfully synchronized my office computer (source) and my home computer (target) and have tested that files do correctly sync both directions. My question/problem is with the initial search for changed files. I have many hundreds of thousands of files (none very large, but quite a few files, all nested in a good many sub-directories). When VV starts up and begins the process, it has to remotely (over my VPN) check the timestamp on every single remote file to determine if it should download it. This takes somewhere areound an hour and a half, though i have never been around right as it finshed to see the "elapsed time". It seems to me that there should be some way to have a local database on both ends and when my home computer establishes the connection, each computer checks its own files for changes...then they exchange timestamp info, then the files get swapped. Is this possible? How can i speed up the process so that it does not take so long to identify changed files on the remote (source) end? |
