I am evaluating the product to migrate 1 server w2003 r2 x32 to 2008 r2 x64. I have seen 2 issues, and i cannot find any infrormation regarding if you support it or not and if yes, what i have to do:
1- copy nfts opermisions, owner...
i have seen that inheritable parent permissions are NOT copied, what is the correct way to copy files and folders with theirs permissions?.
2- i have in the source server, archived files (attribute file "O") stands for Offline. It is because of an archiving software that moves the original file living a stub file, and if you copy the file is recovers for the other archive servers. do you support this type of files? i want to recover when i am replicating to target and copy the original file to destination (as i would be if i manually copy the file).
thanks.

Hello,
1. VV will copy NTFS permissions. Make sure source and target root folders start with the same permissions and are part of the same domain.
2. I think ViceVersa will skip / exclude these files if I am not mistaken?
thanks _________________ --

Hi, thanks for the reply, regarding your answers:
1. VV will copy NTFS permissions. Make sure source and target root folders start with the same permissions and are part of the same domain.
if I understand, you only copy ntfs permissions directly applied on files, you donīt copy inheritable permissions, and you donīt copy audit and owner permissions. Is this correct?
And i must have the same permissions on source and target root folder.
2. I think ViceVersa will skip / exclude these files if I am not mistaken?
Do you have any way to include this files in the copy/mirror task?
If you donīt have it, this software is not suitable for my migration.
Thank in advance for your answers.
Regards,
Sergio, |
