I have a persistent problem with VV Engine running as a service on SBS2003 Server.

I get Target Folder not Found messages whenever I attempt to run a profile. The target is an IP addressed drive such as a NAS drive withint the domain.

The same profile works perfectly with VV Pro and will work when targetting another drive within the server.

The VV engine service is running in an full adminstrator profile.

I can ping the target

Hi,

Are you accessing the drive via the UNC path ?
Do you need a password to access the drive ?

thanks

I generally use a UNC path to the NAS box and up until recently everything has been fine. The NAS box does need a password which I input when browsing to the box and when using Windows Explorer.

Im not sure whether any recent MS updates have affected things.

VV Pro profile works fine, and even works fine with VVEngine running as an app, when I try and run VVEngine as a service and point it to my saved profile, I get 'target folder not found'.

The profile uses UNC paths (i.e. shares on the remote servers), which are accessible to everyone, without passwords

Note: All servers running as W2K8 Web Edition R2, and the service running as a local admin on the synchronization server.

This was solved by setting the service to run as Local System and not a local admin user.

That's great! Strange, it is usually the other way around, that is, the service needs to be running under admin to access the network. thanks

Im still having problems with the VV Engine with "Target Not Found Messages". I have used VV Pro to manually backup for the last few months.

I have tried Embo1's idea of changing the service setting to be local account rather than a local admin user. Still "Target not found"

I can still navigate to the target drive (ReadyNAS) \\192.168.16.68\ using windows explorer and I can browse to its firmware after entering password during both methods.

Try running the service under the administrator account and use the UNC path (not the mapped drive) in the ViceVersa profile settings. Do you need a password to access the NAS? If positive, enter the login info in profile settings -> folders -> network. Finally use the latest VVEngine 2.1 (or newer) thanks

I am logged onto the box as full domain administrator.

Any clues?

The dialogue box says
C:\Program files\VVEngine\VVEngine.exe

An error occured when trying to replace the exisiting file
DeleteFile failed; code 5.
Access is denied.

Click Retry to Try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended) or abort to cancel installation

OK, thanks, usually the new installation stops VVEngine automatically, but it looks like it did not succeed. Please try stopping VVEngine before installing the new version. thanks

I have also run the remove program routine from within ADD/Remove Programmes applet in Control Panel. This reports that the programme has been succesfully removed and the service disappears from the Services applet. Still i get the Code 5 error when trying to install version 2.1
