|
|
I have a problem with syncing to my external drive (manually):
UAC interferes with deleting or overwriting existing files on the external drive.
The status window from VV shows "access denied" errors on the files in question.
The moment I switch of UAC it is working fine.
However, I would like to have it switched on (on the basic protection level)
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Markus |

Hello,
it's most likely a file permission issue. Are you on Windows 7, 2008 or Vista? Were the files on the external drive added in Windows XP?
thanks _________________ --

Pretty much spot on:
Windows 7(64-bit)
External HDD has been used on many XP Computers before, so it is quite likely the files have been added with an XP machine.
However, I also did set under security all permission for Admins and users on the drive to full access and it was still a problem.
I didn't try yet to take ownership of the files.
What do you suggest? |

Yes, I would try taking ownerships of the files, searching on the internet for "access denied" on external drives seems to give that as a possible solution.... _________________ --

I checked and I actually do have ownership already.
I DO have access to my HDD in normal operation (also with explorer) so is not the problem all the people in the various forums describe (not having access at all)
I was hoping for a solution from VV as this is a problem. I don't want to have to change the permissions of every HDD I am accessing (and maybe messing something up in the progress).
I.e. Directory Opus seem to have a way to bypass UAC |

Try running ViceVersa with elevated admin rights , i.e. right-click on the ViceVersa icon and select "run as administrator". Does that give access? _________________ --

Not so sure what did it:
I actually moved/ deleted the files that made a problem beforehand manually. So I was only able to check it afterwards.
I guess I will only find out when/ if there is another problem in the future...
Thanks for the suggestions so. |
