|
|
We are working with the latest version of VVEngine with Windows 7 64bit. We are having difficulty with VVengine running every time a user (who doesn’t have admin privileges) logs onto their computer. Every time the computer starts up, the VVEngine icon has to be manually pressed and admin privileges given in order for VVEngine to run.
If the user doesn't interact with the VVengine icon in the taskbar, VVengine will not run.
We recently purchased a site wide license for VVEngine 2.0 and we’re planning on rolling this out on our latest image ASAP. Could you please respond with some solutions or suggestions on how we can get VVEngine to consistently run without user interaction in Windows 7? |

|
|
Please allow me to clarify the issue.
The issue is that VVengine will not run with user level access. There is no problem installing the product. When logged in as the user with Standard User access, UAC blocks VVEngine from running asking for elevated credentials. If we type in a domain admin username and password in order to get it to run, it will start backing up under those admin credentials and not the user's. If we type in the local admin username and password in order to get it to run, it will not work.
We've also tried giving the user temporary admin rights and VVengine runs fine. However, once the user's rights revert back to Standard User, we get the above stated problems.
We just finished buying 800 licenses for Vice versa and VVengine and this problem is causing havoc. If we cannot find a solution to this issue, then Vice Versa will not work in our environment and we will have no other option than to discontinue its use and request a refund.
Please help us solve this. |

Hi,
We have replied to your e-mail, I think the issue may be that VVEngine needs admin credentials, however we might be able to work around that.

Has there been a 'fix' to work around needing admin credentials/power users in Windows 7? |

Yes, we are almost ready to release a new VVEngine build which allows running VVEngine without admin rights on Windows 7, Vista and 2008.
