I just noticed that there are these suffixes such as .doc, .docx, etc. after the file names. Can anybody explain what are these file extensions for and can I manually change them by just renaming the files? _________________ DIE and Revive For Us |

Hello,
If you are encrypting / compressing the files, these extensions represent the file type. If you are referring to files in the archive folders, these extensions represent info on when the files were copied / deleted and the files can be renamed and still be usable.

The letters or suffixes found after the file names are called file extensions. These are used to specify the file type. On the long run, these extensions became associated with programs or versions of that program. For example .doc file indicates that it is a Microsoft Word document while .ppt is a Microsoft Power Point document. _________________ Shout For Joy |
