|
|
I am using Windows 7 64bit, with v2.5 build 2503 (it was the same with 2501).
I have a large partition where I have copied a large number of files - they are copies of CD's and DVD's which contain software (so it's my backup partition). When I add to the collection, VV syncs it (mirror source to target) very well. There are now about 160,000 files contained in around 50 folders.
HOWEVER, when it comes to deleting folders from the source, VV cannot handle this. It analyses the files and then starts to delete the corresponding files from the target (USB) drive. However, it starts to go more and more slowly, until it freezes up - the screen will accept no mouse input, the source disks (not the target) start thrashing wildly and the system locks up solid. Eventually the screen will go black. It won't even accept Ctrl-Alt-Del. You have to turn it off with the hardware switch. When I have seen the performance monitor, it shows that it is using (as you might expect) more and more processor capacity up to 100% and the memory runs out completely.
Using different software, such as Foldermatch, does not have this problem.
What is wrong?

It's most probably due to sending files from the USB drive to the recycle bin ... it seems to be a Windows 7 issue. Try disabling the option "Use Recycle Bin when deleting" in the Preferences (from the main menu view -> preferences) thanks _________________ --
