Today I've been trying to run a script making a backup to an external USB connected disk. It will first delete a larger number of files (> 100.00) and then it should start copying.
But I get a memory full (6 GB!) and CPU is over 90%. The system will not respond anymore.
It looks as if the program is stacking everything in memory.
I had a simular script running to a NAS server and there it worked fine.

Normally I don't use a paging file and so far never needed it. So I tried it with a paging file (system controlled) but ran into the same problem.
The systems runs dead on full memory and overloaded CPU.

This is a very annoying problem, hope there is a solution for it.

Hi,

how many files in total in this job?
if you are sending files to the recycle bin, try switching that off, (ViceVersa -> view -> preferences)

thanks

Thank you for your reply.

These are the numbers:
- Status Summary -
- Total Files - Source: 56.453 (41,76GB) - Target: 170.524 (30,35GB)
- Excluded Files - Source: 0 (0) - Target: 0 (0)
- Matched Files - Source: 20.899 (16,90GB) - Target: 20.899 (16,90GB)
- Single Files - Source: 34.722 (24,29GB) - Target: 148.793 (12,81GB)
- Newer Files - Source: 235 (146,80MB) - Target: 597 (502,24MB)
- Older Files - Source: 597 (440,48MB) - Target: 235 (148,01MB)
- Total Subfolders - Source: 4.499 - Target: 8.879
- Excluded Subfolders - Source: 0 - Target: 0
- Matched Subfolders - Source: 2.475 - Target: 2.475
- Single Subfolders - Source: 2.024 - Target: 6.404
- To Do - Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
- Files to Add - Source: 0 (0) - Target: 34.722 (24,29GB)
- Files to Update - Source: 0 (0) - Target: 235 (146,80MB)
- Files to Delete - Source: 0 (0) - Target: 148.793 (12,81GB)
- Subfolders to Add - Source: 0 - Target: 2.024
- Subfolders to Delete - Source: 0 - Target: 6.404

Smile Tried it again with the switch off as you adviced, that worked. Memory usage now stayed around 2,76GB and CPU load around 10%.
Idea I would like the program to monitor these parameters and advice or alert the user instead of the system running into overload with all possible consequences of system corruption.

Hi,
this problem seems to occur on certain systems when sending files to the recycle bin, but it's not due to ViceVersa ...
