Hi,

I'm currently roadtesting VVP 2.5.2501. For many yrs i've used scheduled batch files to back up all of the important individual files on my home computer. These batch files have to be built by hand and when i'm settting up a fresh clean install - as I am now - I wonder if a program w/ a GUI - like VVP - might not be much easier than my usual method. But what my impression is so far is that the world of Bkup-Sync software seems to be designed for people who do things differently than I do. My focus in building a bkup batch file is on FILES and and all of the software i've looked at so far seems to be focused exclusively on FOLDERS.

Yes, I see I can build files masks - and I understand the concept - but if I have to build a profile w/ 50 source folders and then figure out how to build a series of file masks that would be different on each folder so that I only backup the one or two files in each folder that I want it will be more work that building a new batch file from scratch and i'll stick w/ my old method.

So what i'm looking for is a way to tell VVP: "take these 2 specific files from folder A, these 3 specific files from folder B, all .reg files from folder C, clone this folder D, etc, etc. Is there a way to do that w/ VVP or am I spinning my wheels?

Hi,

yes you are right, ViceVersa is "folder centric", but I think there a way to select files easily too. You could have c:\ as source and d:\backup\ as target. Then you add some "include" file filters, each filter is a file you wish to backup from the c:\ drive. For instance c:\folder\file.txt, etc. You can use masks too, like *.doc

thanks
