Hi,
I am wondering if there is an easy method for doing a one-way synchronization of two folders, via a temporary folder.

I am looking for a solution for deploying a website. Syncing from staging to production occurs over a network and takes some time. If I am syncing directly to the production application's folder then the website is in an interrupted and unstable state whilst the syncronization occurs. Ideally, I would like to do one-way sync over the network to a temporary destination on the production server, then either sync or simply xcopy into the website application's folder.

What would be a simple way of achieving this?

Hi,

Computer A is the staging computer with Folder X

Computer B is the production computer with Folder Y

Computer B is the production computer with Folder Z (temp folder).

Have a backup (mirror) profile 1 from Folder X to Folder Z running on computer A.
Once that is finished run another backup (mirror) profile 2 from Folder Z to Folder Y. This profile must run on B , not on A (speed).

You can use VVEngine http://www.tgrmn.com/web/vvengine/vvengine.htm to run the profile 2 on computer B from computer A via a web browser.

If you are running Windows 7 or Vista on computer A, you can have two gadgets on the desktop computer A, which makes it very easy to run the two profiles : http://www.tgrmn.com/web/kb/item94.htm

thanks
