|

We purchased our copies of VV in 2007 and it is a core part of our backup program since then. We have VV maintain updated copies of current files (and archives) on a backup drive that lives full time in a media safe with a usb pass-thru. When the backup drive is full, we simply put it a case and move it into long term media storage. We have two copies running at two different locations and archive both so we always have two copies of every version of every file since we started using VV. And what is our total cost? $50 to buy new 1TB hard drives every month or two. And the new windows 7 widget allows me to monitor both servers from my desktop. And the total manpower required? About a minute a day to make sure the processes completed successfully and a couple of minutes every 6-8 weeks to move the drive from the online media safe to long terms storage and put in a new drive when the backup drive is full.
permanant archiving has never been this easy to use, cheap to implement, and quick to recover a file. if a file we need has already overflown from the shadow copies on our servers, we are sure to have it in the media safe. No special programs to load to dig through backup files, just slip the drive into the docking station and within minutes we have anything we want.
and to think we used to think a 100mb tape drive was the greatest thing. now we buy 1TB or 2 TB hard drives for 'single use' |

I meant to add that while this has become a key aspect and we have been very happy with the program, the cost to upgrade the server version is way, way too expensive. while VV customers seem to be loyal to VV, it seems that they show no loyalty to their customers |
