hello!

i discovered additional files have become excluded even though they are not specified ? i can see a few doc files and a few xls files, and not all of them, under a few folders when view the Excluded Only under the comparison window. the wrongly excluded files are not hidden and there seems to be no common naming pattern to them. any suggestions why this may be happending? my settings are :

Profile File: E:\xyz\appsets\viceversa\gdocs gladi.fsf* (not saved)

Folders
- Source: "C:\Users\Kris\Desktop\My Mirrored Foldes\gdocs\"
- Target: "\\127.0.0.1\resources\gdocs\"
- Include Subfolders: Yes
- Exclude files: "Thumbs.db"
- Exclude files: "Desktop.ini"
- Exclude hidden files
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
- Ignore 2 seconds difference
- Ignore any second difference
- Ignore 1 hour difference
- Ignore Size
Execution
- Method: Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
- No overwrite / read-only / error confirmations
- Log File: "C:\ProgramData\ViceVersa PRO 2\log1.log" (max 10000 KB)
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files
- No archive for deleted/replaced target files
- Copy files even if timestamp changes after initial comparison
- Copy directly to destination file (do not use a temporary file)
- No empty source/target check

Hello , they must have the hidden attribute, are they included if you do not exclude hidden files in the profile? thanks

its a drive created by a product called Gladinet (www gladinet com p moreAboutdesktop htm) , but im afraid i dont knwo what type it is exactly (it mirrors google docs files to a local machine if that is of any lead).

i just tried creating a completely new profile with basically no special settings, just making a Backup based on timestamp, and no exclusions whatsover, and from the very first run it still excludes the files (15 of them). furthermore, running the profile changes the profile settings? and thats just running the comparison without execution changes the profile settings, such that it ticks two additional boxes: Ignore 2 seconds difference AND Ignore 1 hour difference ?

i should point out that the files under \\127.0.0.1\resources\gdocs\ do not have correct size specified because they are grabbed off the internet on open (the way Gladinet works), but that may not be relevant because i am ignoring file size on comparison. it may be relevant tho more generally because the files under \\127.0.0.1\resources\gdocs\ seem to basically be links to files grabbed off the internet rather than normal files that can be accessed offline, which may be the cause of teh strange behaviour..

Profile before making comparison:
---------
Folders
- Source: "C:\Users\Kris\Desktop\My Mirrored Foldes\gdocs\"
- Target: "\\127.0.0.1\resources\gdocs\"
- Include Subfolders: Yes
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
- Ignore Size
Execution
- Method: Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
- Log File: "C:\ProgramData\ViceVersa PRO 2\gladi.log" (max 10000 KB)
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files
- No archive for deleted/replaced target files

Profile autochanged after comparison:
---------
Folders
- Source: "C:\Users\Kris\Desktop\My Mirrored Foldes\gdocs\"
- Target: "\\127.0.0.1\resources\gdocs\"
- Include Subfolders: Yes
Comparison
- Comparison Type: Size and Timestamp
- Ignore 2 seconds difference
- Ignore 1 hour difference
- Ignore Size
Execution
- Method: Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
- Log File: "C:\ProgramData\ViceVersa PRO 2\gladi.log" (max 10000 KB)
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files
- No archive for deleted/replaced target files

i asked what kind of drive gladinet is from gladinet and their answer was "In short, Gladinet drive is a mapped network drive. However, the drive is not a regular remote drive. It is mapped to Gladinet process. " www gladinet com forum framehelper aspx?g=posts&t=1290

Hi , the issue may be that these files are marked by Gladinet as "offline", that is not available locally. ViceVersa currently automatically excludes offline files from the comparison. "Offline" would mean that the file is there but not available on your computer physically, it needs to be pulled from the network before it can be accessed.

Have a look at this article describing offline files in Vista (but it's applicable for Windows 7 too):
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749449%28WS.10%29.aspx

Does it match what you see using Windows Explorer?

thanks

This may indeed be causing it! When I lpook at all the gladinet files in windows explorer and put on Offline Availability and Offline Status columns, they all say Not available and Online. Given they are treated as oiffline files they should be all excluded however, which is not the case, so my thinking is that either opening or editing the docs marks them further somehow such that now they get exluded...

The practical question that arisesd from this is, is it possible to turn off excluding offline files in viceversa, or toggle as an option or similar? In this case, the prime aim is to aoverwrite the offline file wqith viceversa, because gladinet then detects that change and uploads the document to google docs server..
Ta!

Hi,
it is currently not possible to force inclusion of offline files, unfortunately, but we plan to add that possibility in a future release!
thanks
