firstly thanks for a great product, my initial impressions are highly favourable! i am testing out viceversa and vvenginge for my purposes, and am in the trial period for both.

i am wanting to do a backup task from a standard ntfs folder to a virtual drive created by a product called Gladinet. this works fine when i run the profile under viceversa, but when i schedule the same profile to run under vvengine i get this message:

2010-12-28 14:30:35 : [ERROR] Target: folder "G:\gdocs\vault\" not found. The system cannot find the path specified.
2010-12-28 14:30:35 : Exit Code: 14. Target folder not found. [ERROR]

note that the Gladinet virtual drive and folders / files under it are accessible with Windows Explorer as if a standard drive and directories

Why woudl viceversa work but vvengine not? is there a way to fix this? thanks for any help!

sorry, i got it wrong before, the execution does not work in viceversa either, what works in viceversa is the comparison, but when i click execute then an error occurs as well . full log below, with one file updated in Source, which should be copied and overwritten in Target, but that fails.

interestingly, viceversa is able to work with the virtual drive to make the comparison, why can it not actually copy and overwrite the file then? furthermore, when i create a new file in source that does not exist in target, tehn copyhijng that over from viceversa same profile succeeds, so the error seems to occur only when a file of same name exists in target already (which is what my scenario will entail most often). maybe the issue is that the files in teh gladinet virtual drive are actually stored as netwrok files e.g. http 127 0 0 1 resources gdocs vault watchOld doc (special characters removed so as to be able to post the structure of teh link)
And that is why overwriting them fails, because they cannot be deleted like a normal file?

i got the overwriting to work from viceversa now by checkign "Copy directly to destination file (do not use temporary file)", but the original issue remains, even though everything works in viceversa now, vvengine always shows error Target folder not found? and that is even when teh Source and Target are identical. again, its strange that comparison succeeds from viceversa but produces an error in vveninge?

thanks and i hoep all this info is not too much ..

Hi,

what scheduling settings are you using in VVEngine?
Is G:\ access like/via a mapped drive?

thanks

im not sure how Gladinet sets up the virtual drive unfortunately, it just appears as a new drive when i run Gladinet. gladinet is possibly configuring webdav (or less likely smb) protocol to access the google docs server and make windows represent it as a local drive, but that is just a guess: if u know what access methods google docs supports then that might help..

the files in the virtual drive point to localhost using http, however, (e.g. http 127 0 0 1 resources gdocs vault watchOld doc), so im not sure what that means..

Thanks, are you running VVEngine as a service (I assume not). The service could have accessibility issues. Are you able to access G:\ using the \\server\share notation ? It looks like the account running ViceVersa is authorized while the account running VVEngine is not. Does it work if you run Viceversa "as administrator" , that is, right click on the ViceVersa icon and select "run as administrator"

thanks

spot on! when i run viceversa as administrator i get the same target folder not found error already on comparison (i.e. comparison fails analogous to what happens in vvengine).

unfortuatntely, when i now installed vvengine as a service using your batch file, adn then set the log on as the user in which viceversa runs (my current user), adn tehn started the service and ran the same profile, i still get the same error? strange?? the only reason i can think this may happen is that im on an active directory (the user at hand is a AD admin user), but currrently i have no access to the ad server, which might make the difference? as you discovered , the key seems to be to make vvengine run in exactly the same context as viceversa does atm... any further ideas?

i uninstalled the service, to try the foollwogin but failed: VVEngineHome.exe seems to always request to run as administrator, is there any way to run it as current user without elevated privileges? i tried shift right click and run as a different user, but it still requests elevation as expected. given that viceversa can do the job without elevated privileges, maybe it is not necessary to always run vvenging as administrator?

Do you have a password to access the G:\ drive? It looks like when ViceVersa is running elevated (and VVEngine always runs ViceVersa elevated) you need to re-authenticate to access the G:\ drive.
If you have a password and UNC path enter it in profile settings -> folders -> network
I suspect the original authentication is done automatically at login time for the non-elevated account.

thanks

using teh UNC path was key, but without passwords: the Network authentication was not needed like this (the test failed in fact), but when i put in the Target path as \\127.0.0.1\resources\gdocs\vault instead of G:\gdocs\vault then vvengine (or viceversa with elevated privileges) started to work!

problem solved, adn thank you for amazing troubleshooting!
