I've been a happy VVPro User for years and it has saved me more than a few times...BUT...when a machine really crashes and burns it still takes days to reinstall the OS, apps, configurations etc. In other words, VVPro saves my data, but can't do a system restore.
I've read in this forum that TGRMS has been working on System Restore capability in posts that are at least a year old. Does anyone know the status of this?
In looking at the Full System Restore capabilities of Timeline Genie, I've been wondering if it might be time to make a change. Would be interested to hear if anyone has used that and could make a comparison.
Thanks! |

Hi, at the moment we do not think ViceVersa will be modified to provide a full system restore. We think we will keep focusing on sync and replication of data files for now. Did you try the backup software included in Windows 7, Vista, 2008 for full image backup? thanks _________________ --

Thanks for the clear and straightforward reply. I'll look into the full image backup that comes with Windows 7. |

Any update yet as to whether or not ViceVersa Pro will be able to do full system restores? I am currently on day 5 of the 30 day evaluation, and have been trying to figure out how to do a full restore (just in case I needed one).
At the moment, the only thing I can think of is clicking onto the Target window in the Compare screen, and then clicking the "little left arrow" which sits between source and target, which would move the files over from backup to hard disk.
I would like to purchase this software, but if it can't do a restore, then I doubt I will.
Any feedback about restores would be good. CHEERS!
...and if it is possible, then how? |

Hi, a full system restore is not possible with ViceVersa as it does not copy the boot sector and master boot record. But you will have an exact copy of your disk with all the files copied as is. thanks _________________ --
