I am not sure why this is occurring. If the file already exists and has not changed ViceVersa should not even try and copy the file. ViceVersa is running under a local Admin account and in the profile has permission to overwrite the file regardless.
Copying file \\ldifileshare\_MIS\Systems Configs and Docs\PC Workstations\IT Software Installation and Configuration Procedures\ADDAPE~1.DOC <to> \\?\C:\TSRBackUps\_MIS\Systems Configs and Docs\PC Workstations\IT Software Installation and Configuration Procedures\ADDAPE~1.DOC (23.50KB) [Error renaming temp file \\?\C:\TSRBackUps\_MIS\Systems Configs and Docs\PC Workstations\IT Software Installation and Configuration Procedures\~vv1.tmp. Unable to rename \\?\C:\TSRBackUps\_MIS\Systems Configs and Docs\PC Workstations\IT Software Installation and Configuration Procedures\~vv1.tmp into \\?\C:\TSRBackUps\_MIS\Systems Configs and Docs\PC Workstations\IT Software Installation and Configuration Procedures\ADDAPE~1.DOC. Cannot create a file when that file already exists.] [ERROR]. |

I checked the following option and the problem went away.
"Copy directly to Destination, do not use a Temp File."
Please correct me if I am wrong. While VV is copying a file from one location to another it creates a Temp file and then renames it? There may be some freaky permissions problem when it tries to rename it.
The profile is only copying files withing the same LAN, do you see a problem doing it this way?
If you have a geeky tech article explaining why VV does this can you give me a link. |

Yes, I think that is the problem. The temp files for extra safety, in case a copy crashes suddenly which would leave an incomplete target file. But in this case it's fine to disable this feature if it does not work properly with the temp file.
Question: is this problem occurring with all files or only certain files?

I"m having the same issue with local lan copies only too. my backups across the net to NAS work fine, but local backups (within same lan) error out with "can't create file when it already exists"....
Checking the "don't use temp file" made it work. Job runs as domain admin, target is local share and domain admin is the owner of that share with full rights. Should not error out - needs fixed - but work-around works until the fix comes out. |

When I synchronize between my two of my computers, some (but not all) of the files will not copy. On each of these files, I get the following error message of the following type:
Copying file C:\Data1\Applied Antitrust\02_criminal\case_studies\au\au_ndcal_na_usa10_30_2012auo.pdf <to> \\DALE-W520\Data1\Applied Antitrust\02_criminal\case_studies\au\au_ndcal_na_usa10_30_2012auo.pdf (55.38KB) [Error renaming temp file \\DALE-W520\Data1\Applied Antitrust\02_criminal\case_studies\au\~vv1.tmp. Unable to rename \\DALE-W520\Data1\Applied Antitrust\02_criminal\case_studies\au\~vv1.tmp into \\DALE-W520\Data1\Applied Antitrust\02_criminal\case_studies\au\au_ndcal_na_usa10_30_2012auo.pdf. Cannot create a file when that file already exists.] [ERROR]
I looked at the following post on the Knowledge Base: http://www.tgrmn.com/web/forum/viewtopict3402.htm. I tried to check the box "Copy directly to destination, do not use a temp file" but I get an error message saying that this option is not available using Synchronization.
Any thoughts on how to correct this problem? |
