|
|
I've just changed my NAS from a ReadyNAS NV to a ReadyNAS Pro (much faster) but the Mirror Data Rates have dimished from 16MBps to 4MBps !
Here's the background :
PC - Win7Pro. ViceVersaPro 2.0. Kaskersky Disabled. Intel Pro/1000 PT NIC. No Jumbo Frames.
Network - Cat6 LAN. Netgear GS108t switches (3).
Old Config
Source - ReadyNAS NV (or NV+) Gbps NIC
Destination - ReadyNAS NV+ (or NV) Gbps NIC
Mirror Data Rate - 16MBps (smooth pattern according to NetMeter)
New Config
Source - ReadyNAS NV (or NV+) Gbps NIC
Destination - ReadyNAS Pro Gbps NIC
Mirror Data Rate - 4MBps (bounces from 1MBps to 25Mbps)
Other Copy rates :
1. Copy/Paste of 12x 1GB files from PC desktop to ReadyNAS Pro - 60MBps. (smooth pattern)
2. Copy/Paste of GB files from ReadyNAS NV to ReadyNAS Pro - 25MBps. (about the limit for the NV/NV+) (smooth pattern)
3. Copy/Paste of GB files from ReadyNAS NV AND ReadyNAS NV+ (2 simultaneous transfers) to ReadyNAS Pro - 41MBps - (24MBps and 17MBps) (smooth pattern)
Something in the link between ViceVersa Pro and the NAS is causing loopbacks/resend etc ?
What should I try to change in the Profile and other settings.
Resetting the NASs and the PC cause no changes to this behaviour.
Thanks. |

Thanks.
Process Priority : Idle
File Copy Optimization : Buffer size - 32768
I'm copying BIG files (typically 1GB but some up to 7GB).
PS - Based on this I changed the settings to :
Process Priority - High
File Copy Buffer size : 2097152
and the Mirror rates went up to 31MBps and then back down to 20MBps but has remained steady at 18 to 21.
Has this solved the problem in your view ?
Looks very good - Thanks. |

Yes, you can try setting the Process Priority to Normal too, it should be fine with Normal as well. I think it was the idle settings that was causing the copy to be slow. However the idle settings can be useful if you do not want the copy to impact / slow any other running application using the disk. thanks _________________ --
