I am evaluating this software for DR purposes. i have had great luck in the file side of things all files are moving with relatively fast speeds. the issue i am looking at now is with VSS and SQL.
I took a snapshot of a database that is around 200M in size.
I then ran a SQL script to update a row in the Database and compared the files again. It showed differences, but upon execution, I was prompted to overwrite the file in my target.
I then added data to 5 different tables, and compared again and again upon execution, it copied the entire file over below are the profile settings.
This DB I am experimenting on is relatively small for my environments. a typical DB for me is around 40 GB some up to 100GB. This is too much data to be pushing every time a user clicks a button in my application.
am i missing something?
Profile File: C:\Documents and Settings\phillipsm\My Documents\ViceVersa PRO 2\profile1.fsf* (not saved)
Folders
- Source: "vss:\\SqlServerWriter:bluedemo3"
- Target: "\\sdsfile02s\h$\testvss\"
- Include Subfolders: Yes
- Create sources/targets that do not exist
Comparison
- Comparison Type: CRC (CRC calculated on entire file)
Execution
- Method: Backup (Mirror Source to Target)
- No archive for deleted/replaced source files
- No archive for deleted/replaced target files
- Speed: 100 Buffer Size: 2097152
- Copy files even if timestamp changes after initial comparison
- Try to copy files that are in use by other applications
- Use 'Volume Shadow Copy' to copy open files for source
- Create Volume Shadow Copy before comparing source and target
- Copy file/folder permissions |

Hello
with SQL databases ViceVersa will copy the entire file each time it runs if the database has changed.
