I'm trying to move a large amount of data (almost 200 GB) from one server to another. I tried to use MS Richcopy but it kept hanging up. I believe because it exceeds 256 characters, but haven't been able to determine exactly. So I tried using VV to copy this data to the other location. The first run seem to run pretty well. It copied approx. 100 GB of data then encountered some errors, I belive the 256 character thing again. Then I tried to mirror again but it is extremly slow. It is less than 150 KB/sec. Estimated time for 1.65 GB of data is 7 hours! Any ideas. I have disabled Indexing, Unchecked use recycle bin for deletion, and disabled AV. Please help... I need to move this data.

I could understand the problem with many small files, but these aren't all small files. Some are rather large PDFs, Excel files, etc. So I don't think that is the problem.

I did try the \\?\ and I believed it helped with the 256 character problem. I wasn't sure if it was the cause of the slow copying so I removed it. It did not seem to help.

Any other thoughts on the slow copying? I ran it over night for 11.5 hours, avg. transfer rate was 29 Kb/sec, and only copied about 1.5 GB of 1.7. I had to cancel the operation.

If you stop and restart the profile (you can stop and re-start as many times as you want, VV will restart from where it left), does the speed improve or it's the same? Same results if you restart the server (if possible)?

I have copied most of the data and will do a compare and execute this weekend. I hope it is not too much data to copy and can be done over the weekend. I haven't tried a reboot, but will do so before executing the compare. Any other thoughts on speed improvement?
Thanks!
