Server 2008R2, IIS7 and VVEngine port number

We have installed VVPro 2.5 and it works successfully on a Server 2008R2 machine 64 Bit. I've downloaded the VV Engine add on and receive the following error:

Does this product support R2 or am I missing something else?

I remote from our main office to our data center into the server 2008R2 machine. I open the vvengine home page and the error message appears. The adress that is displayed is 127.0.0.1:8001/. The firewall on this machine is turned off.

In the vvengine. The vvengine displays the error messages in it's home page

Never heard this message before for Windows 2008. Are you using the Internet Explorer browser? Could be related to browser security. Are you able to try using FireFox? thanks

You've got to be kidding me. No, we can't use Firefox. Our entire domain is locked to IE 8 as a corporate policy. It works just fine in two installations on 2003 servers with the same browser.

Can you try using "localhost" instead of "127.0.0.1" in the IE address bar?
Do you have any antivirus installed, maybe McAfee ?
It could be an issue with remoting, can you open other web pages in IE8 while remoting?

We use trend for our anti virus and I have disabled it. Local host returns the IIS7 splash page.

OK, are you able to try without remote connecting ? I wonder if that is the problem. I searched on Google for the messages you are seeing and some entries refer to remote connecting.

Yes, I can try that. FYI though, we use remote connections to our other installation and it works fine. The only difference is the server is 2003 OS. I will drive over to the data center and attempt to run it with a direct connection today althoug if it works it will be useless to us as we cannot go over there every day to run and or examine the results of the previous night's run

Update;

I installed the vvengine on another server 2008 box. This machine is running 2008 standard 64 bit. The installation works fine. It was installed and is running remotely. However I need it to work on the original machine that I am having the problem with. The only difference that I am aware of is that the version of 2008 is R2. Could this be an IIS problem? My understanding is that 2008 uses IIS7. Both machines use the same version.

Maybe is a HTTP port issue with IIS7.

Is VVEngine running ? (check the VVEngine icon on the taskbar, next to the clock: is the icon blue=OK or gray=not running).

I wonder if some other application (IIS7?) blocked port 8001 which is the port used by VVEngine. You can try to change the port used by VVEngine to a higher number, e.g. 9999. To do this, right click on the VVEngine icon on the taskbar and select "VVEngine settings". Then change the port number and click apply. Then try to open the VVEngine web page.
