Hello

this may seem like a dumb question, Smile if i am running vice versa pro, using volume shadow copy, if my backup software kicks in using volume shadow copy, will it cause vice versa pro to fail?

We scheduled a mirror backup to start at 5pm, this drive has about 300 gig of files on it, it takes about two hours for the compare to run...during the compare process, our incremental backups kicked off, we use netbackup software.. there are no log entries saying there were errors, or that the job finished with vice versa..no data was moved either. we used the windows scheduler to schedule the backup..we had the logs set to log errors only.

Hello

It depends on which Windows version you are using.

Windows XP only supports 1 shadow copy at a time, so the first application requesting a shadow copy will work but the next one will fail until the first one has finished.

Newer versions of Windows, including 2003, Vista, 2008, 7, they all support multiple shadow copies, so you can have two applications requesting a Volume Shadow Copy at the same time.

thanks
