|
|
Since "upgrading" to 2.5 I have been experiencing copy speeds to USB drives at or around 512K/s !!!!! It is actually faster for me to go in and manually compare the files then copy them in Windows Explorer. It is also at least ten times faster to perform a VV Sync across the network!
I'm running Vista Home Premium SP1 and VV Pro is the only application that suffers from this problem, and it has only happened since 2.5 came on the scene.
I have to say that 2.5 has been a huge disappointment to me and I'm this close to tossing it and using an alternative. |

Hello
are you using the latest build 2501 (free download from http://www.tgrmn.com/web/download.htm ) ?
Also make sure the process priority (in profile settings -> performance ) is set to Normal.
More info on the process priority:
When Idle, Low or Below Normal values are used, all folder scanning and file copying operations performed by ViceVersa will be of lower priority when compared to other I/O operations of other applications running at the same time on the same computer. When using these values, ViceVersa will not impact the overall responsiveness of the computer and the copy/scanning will go ahead silently in the background. When running on Windows 7, Vista, 2008 or newer, ViceVersa will also use the new I/O prioritization capabilities to improve system responsiveness without significantly decreasing overall throughput. _________________ --

Yes, thanks. It seems that setting the priority to "Normal" has fixed the issue. However, this is something you should think about: the default priority on new profiles is set to "Idle (Recommended)". I wouldn't have expected to have to change this from the "recommended" setting just to get the thing to work!
If the default setting should be something other than "Idle" on Vista, Win7 etc then the installer should set a platform-specific configuration setting so that the user doesn't have to muck about with this. |

Hello
you are right: we have already changed this in the latest build 2501, the default speed is no longer idle.
thanks _________________ --
