Hello,

I just downloaded a trial version of ViceVersa 2.5 Build 2501 and I have a few basic questions that I need answered as soon as possible.

1. I need synchronize/replicate multiple folders from a source stand alone server to a target stand alone server. Both are on separate networks. Where do I specify login information to the target server?

2. Do I have to install ViceVersa on both servers?

3. If I modify files on my source server, will it automatically update the files on the target server?

That's all for the moment until I learn more how to use this product.

Thank you,
Arie

Change profile settingsd - > folders -> network

No, you can install just on the source server and push the data to the target.

The VVEngine add-on can do that:

I went to Change Profile Settings --> Folders --> Network as you described and entered the UNC path \\Server_Name\C$ and username and password then I received a message saying "The same folder is present both in Source and Target. That's the whole idea - I need to constantly move files from my source server to my target server and to keep the same folders structure.

How can I accomplish that?

Thanks again,
Arie

Hello,

My source and destination folders are the same in the profile because as I said, I need files from C:\X on the source to be copied/replicated/backed up to C:\X on the target computer.

Thank you,

you can't use C:\X for the target computer. How do you access that folder using Windows Explorer in Windows?

thanks

Hello,

Why can't I use C:\X as my folder?
I access it by opening Windows Explorer and typying C:\X in the address field.

Thank you,

When you type C:\X do you access the local files or the remote files?

Hello,

When I type c:\x I access the local file and when I type \\servername\c$\x I access the remote files but that has nothing to do with the problem I'm having.

I am able to access the remote server because the fact is, I'm getting the message that the folder x exists on bot the local and te remote server.

I understand that the there is a way to do what I'm trying to do with VV but for some reason it doesn't agree with my configuration attempts.

Thank you,
