Hi,
We are looking for an 'offline files' replacement for notebooks in a win7pro - win2008r2 environment. Formerly we had roaming profiles and m$ offline files, but now we will try out 3rd party synching software to sync My Documents, Favorites, Thunderbird settings and Address book to the users' home folder on the domain controller.
The syncing should be *automatically* done by logon and logoff to the domain (no button which needs to be clicked by user). Can this be done in GPOs or logon scripts..?
Can the list of source and target folders be automatically enforced via group policy or what is the best solution to be sure that everybody has it configured correctly?
If files are deleted / missing in the source (notebook) folders, I optionally want that the users should be prompted to agree that these (missing) files also are to be deleted in the target folder too. Does this software provide this functionality? (To provide an extra safety if local files are accidentally erased or moved).
How quick is the viceversa synching process compared to windows' 'offline files' feature?
Thanks a lot for comments on each of the issues above.

The VVEngine add-on can run profiles automatically as soon as a folder becomes available, please see: http://www.tgrmn.com/web/vvengine/vvengine.htm

Settings are contained in a file called "profile" with extension .fsf
Alternatively you could run ViceVersa via the command line and specify source and target.

No, but if files are only changed in source and never in target, you could use a replication method instead of synchronization, see:

This depends on the amount (and size) of the files to be copied and the bandwidth available.
