Using VV+ for several years now. Very pleased with it.

I have recently bought a Seagate external drive which has its own utility for creating and maintaining encrypted folders on the external drive.

I copied a 60Gb+ set of files into an encrypted folder on the external drive.

New files in the source are correctly flagged and copy to the encrypted folder in the usual way.

But when I run a comparison between the original source folder and the encrypted folder using VV+. it flags as changed all the files that match filenames, when the huge majority have not been altered other to encrypt them.

Is there a way to retain the usual comparison between unencrypted and and encrypted folders?

Would VV Pro behave differently?

Hello

could this be due to encrypted files having a different file size? If that's the issue, try checking the option to ignore the file size in comparison, the option is in profile settings -> comparison.

Let us know what you find!

thanks!

Using CRC alone similarly doesn't identify changed files. I guess that's because the encrypted files have a changed CRC for the bytes checked.

What I really need is a method to compare only filename and time stamp, but this doesn't seem to be available. If it is, please advise exactly how to achieve it.

Thanks.

Hello

You can activate that in profile settings -> comparison. The option is called "Ignore Size"

thanks

I am using Vice Versa Plus (registered) version 2.4.2 which reports that no updates are available. Win XP SP3.

The only settings I have found are under the Project, not Profile, menu heading.

There is no option to 'Ignore Size'.

Are you talking about the Pro version?

If not, where is this hidden?

Hmmm. I said I was using + in my initial post.

I haven't found an upgrade path from PLUS to PRO on your web site. How do I do that?
