I am running Vice Versa Pro 2.5 on a Windows Server 2003 machine with VV Engine running as a service. I have it set up to mirror files across my network to four different machines.
Itermittently I will get a few files that will become locked up and I get the error "File in use by another application or user" error message if I try and overwrite or delete the file. I have made sure that I am the owner of the file and that I have full access to it. I am the enterprise administrator and I cannot delete or change the file in any way. I have to use a program called AutoUnlocker to kill it.
I didn't have thie problem before I installed ViceVersa but it also might be a coincidence. I thought I would check and see if anyone else has run into this and if there are any solutions.
Thanks in advance |

Hello
Is the message given for the files on the target(s) or on the source? Is VV copying the file(s) when this message is shown?

It is on the source, but I have had it happen on the target in the past as well. It is hard to tell when it happens because once it is locked up VV can't access the file to copy to the source, but I don't know if it happens during the copy. |

I installed Microsoft Process Explorer which allows me to see what process or program is utilizing open files.
I enabled shadow copy but it did not fix the problem. I am reluctant to enable shadow copy on the drive because Windows cautions you not to enable shadow copy on drives that have high volume I/O.
Either way, all of the files I am having issues with are in use by wmiprvse.exe
From the research I have done this is a tool used by developers to query files for a variety of purposes. I didn't know if this is something that ViceVersa Pro uses or not.
Any suggestions? |
