I am having synching folders between two machines. Folders A and B are subfolders of an upper level folder C on the source. I moved folder A into B. I then synched C with a folder on another machine. Result was two empty folder A's in the original locations. Note, a non-empty version of A on the target existed prior to the synch. The moved A was fine.

I am synching between Vista (source) and XP (target).

Any thoughts on why this would happen?

Hi,
This may not be related but sometimes I receive the error
"Profile settings have changed since the last time the tracking database was saved: "C:\ProgramData\ViceVersa PRO 2\vvdb2.tdb". The database does not contain information about source "C:\Users\tim\Documents\Resumes\". Comparison stopped. You need to reset the synchronization tracking database in the profile settings.
2009-12-15 21:09:49 : Aborted."

Although the error text states " Profile settings have changed since the last time the tracking database was saved..." that is not true. The profile had not been changed since the last synch.

Thanks

Hi,
Do hidden files cause this type of problem? What about the profile changed message?
Anybody out there? (Site Admin?)
Thanks

Hello

The problem could be that the folder with the hidden file(s) can't be deleted (because it contains the hidden file) and the hidden file is not deleted because it's excluded.

Regarding the error:

Quote:
"Profile settings have changed since the last time the tracking database was saved: "C:\ProgramData\ViceVersa PRO 2\vvdb2.tdb". The database does not contain information about source "C:\Users\tim\Documents\Resumes\". Comparison stopped. You need to reset the synchronization tracking database in the profile settings.

Make sure the tracking database is not shared by two profiles.

thanks

Some tracking databases were being shared! How did this happen? I always accepted the default tracking database filename when creating profiles and ViceVersa should not allow this...seems like a bug.

There are no excluded files.

Hope this fixes it.

Thanks

Tracking database sharing was the problem. Believe they got shared because I did "save as" to creae new profiles and I did not update the tracking database.

Thanks for the help.

VV is a great tool!!!
