Hello,

I am a ViceVersa 2 en 2.5 user.
With the new 2.5 version I get the following error messages when
configuring a profile (using settings like I always used with version 2)

The option 'Copy directly to destination file (do not use a temporary file)', in profile settings->advanced setting, cannot be used with the Syncronization method.

Is there a reason for this?
I would like to use the synchronisation without temporary files, because of problems with rights (apparently the temp file is in a strange date 02-02-1982). Some clients have problems with this, while others don't
Very strange.

Best regards,

J P

Hello JP, we have introduced this change in version 2.5 for data safety reasons. It makes the sync much more secure. It is not needed for backup. Regarding the clients with this problem, do you know more about their configuration? thanks

Why is it more secure?

Suppose you are copying a file and during the transfer something happens, the file is not updated properly. The timestamp may also not be updated properly. You would have an incorrect file with incorrect timestamp in source or target, and that's not good... copying to a temp file first is the safest way. Only upon successful copy the original file is substituted with the temp one.
